Inspiration Behind Ethophilia

From the Founder's Desk

" Contemporary standards of biological research support the extensive study of behavioural biology (ethology) as an extremely dynamic discipline, which integrates several research expertise from diverse areas. This enthusiasm has stimulated me to initiate a research group with likeminded motivated researchers. Me, being the founder of the group, named it Ethophilia (as inspired from the term Ethology).

Ethophilia Research Foundation (ERF), is a research-based organisation situated in Santiniketan, India. ERF is primarily interested in contemporary ethological research. Working in the area of behavioural biology (ethology), demands a high dynamic approach incorporating researchers from diverse disciplines. Our focus is to work with research enthusiasts who can consider ERF as a centre for academic exchange and innovation without being very strict about designations. We confidently support the idea of unimpeded scientific endeavours, and endorse the concept of multidisciplinary research work in applying the concept of ethology in the current scenario of biological and environmental sciences. The broad objective of Ethophilia is to grow as a socio-scientific hub which will grow with the collective effort from the peers, who are motivated to work in the vast area of ecology, evolutionary biology and ethology. I am confident to declare that ERF is a scientific organisation for not only doing critical research work but also is focused on the promotion of the same for society also.

The fundamental aim of ERF is to associate with the global ethological research community. Constructive collaborations will help us to conserve this scientific hub. As the Founder and Executive Director of ERF, I am requesting my peers to contribute intellectually through appreciated suggestions and if possible, please help us to grow our academic networks globally. Endorsement from any university or institution will make our hands sturdier.

We are promoting innovations in fundamental and applied research in behavioral biology and also in the area of environmental biology. Currently our major projects are broadly designed to study the impact of anthpogenic issues on animal behaviour.

Currently, our primary broad interest is to align behavioural and environmental biology. Our current prime objective is to work on the anthropogenic activities on animal and human behaviour with a dimension of environmental toxicology (geo-toxicology) and climate change. "
